What Is Asteria? The Facts So Far

  • Location: Approximately 1,500 acres within Chatham Park in Pittsboro, NC, near the Haw River and just outside the Research Triangle.
  • Size: More than 4,000 planned homes — single-family houses, duplexes, and condos — including neighborhoods designated for adults 55 and older. The first phase is expected to include roughly 300 home sites plus parks, trails, and a discovery-focused studio space.
  • Timeline: Home sales are anticipated to begin in fall 2027, with the first residents expected in fall 2028. Site work is already underway with DMB Development.
  • The Second Star Club: The planned social heart of Asteria, designed by Walt Disney Imagineering — a signature two-story restaurant, event pavilion, creative studios, a wellness center, and a 55+ lounge, plus the “Lost Key Cottage,” a five-bedroom Never Land–themed home.
  • The theme: Disney says Asteria draws on the “culture of academia and the culture of agriculture” — a nod to the Triangle’s universities and Chatham County’s farming roots — with storytelling inspired by films like Beauty and the Beast, Alice in Wonderland, and Bambi.

What Asteria’s Growth Means for Chatham County

Growth on this scale changes a community. Thousands of new homes in Chatham Park — alongside VinFast, Wolfspeed, and the broader Triangle boom — mean more construction crews on our roads, more traffic on US-15-501, US-64, and the Pittsboro traffic circle, and thousands of new neighbors who will need local services. That has real, practical consequences:

Whether you’re a construction worker on the Asteria site, a future Asteria resident, or a longtime Chatham County neighbor sharing the roads with all this new activity, having a lawyer who actually lives and works here matters. Eric Haase has spent 30+ years representing injured people across Central North Carolina — and his office is right in downtown Pittsboro, minutes from Chatham Park.
