2. Types of Information We Collect
Depending on how you interact with the Sites, we may collect:
- Contact information — name, phone number, email address, and mailing address.
- Case information — any description of your legal matter that you voluntarily submit through a contact form, chat, or email.
- Communications records — records of your phone calls, text messages, and emails with the firm.
- Online activity data — pages you visit, the time and duration of visits, referring URLs, and other analytics data collected automatically.

3. Online Activity, Cookies, and Information Collected by Other Automatic Means
The Sites use cookies and similar technologies to operate, improve, and personalize your experience. Cookies generally fall into the following categories:
- Essential cookies — necessary for the Sites to function (for example, maintaining your session).
- Functional cookies — remember choices you make, such as your preferred language.
- Analytics cookies — help us understand how visitors use the Sites so we can improve them (for example, Google Analytics).
- Advertising cookies — may be used to deliver advertising relevant to you on other websites.
4. Cookie and Marketing Email Opt Outs
You may disable cookies through your browser settings. You may opt out of Google Analytics by installing Google’s opt-out browser add-on. Disabling cookies may in some instances limit the functionality of the Sites.
If you receive marketing emails from us, you may unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in the email or by contacting us at info@pittsborolawyer.com. You may also withdraw consent to text communications at any time by replying STOP to any text message you receive from the firm.
5. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Respond to your inquiries and evaluate whether we can assist with your legal matter.
- Provide legal services if we enter into a written engagement agreement with you.
- Operate, maintain, and improve the Sites.
- Comply with legal obligations, including North Carolina Rules of Professional Conduct.
- Detect, prevent, and investigate fraud, misuse, or unauthorized access.
- Send you information about legal updates, firm news, or services you may find useful (you can opt out at any time).
6. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We may share your information in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers. Vendors who assist us with operating the Sites, hosting, email delivery, analytics, and case-management software, subject to appropriate confidentiality obligations.
- Co-counsel and referring attorneys. We may associate with or refer your matter to co-counsel or other qualified attorneys or law firms, including attorneys in other jurisdictions, when we determine doing so serves your interests. We will inform you in writing of any such arrangement and obtain your written consent before any fee is divided. There is no additional cost to you — any division of the attorneys’ fee is made from the single contingent fee paid out of your recovery. In connection with such arrangements, we may share with co-counsel the information reasonably necessary to represent you, which remains protected by the attorney-client privilege and work-product doctrine.
- Legal obligations. When required by law, subpoena, court order, or to comply with North Carolina Rules of Professional Conduct.
- Protection of rights. To investigate or prevent fraud, security breaches, or harm to the rights, property, or safety of the firm or others.
7. How We Protect Your Personal Information
We maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect the information we collect against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. However, no transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children
The Sites are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to us, please contact us and we will take prompt steps to delete it.
